Girl with a Pearl Earring is undoubtedly the most popular painting by Vermeer. This amazing piece of work is
being exhibited in Kobe
Even though there are very few records
regarding the painting and no clues as to its subject, the fact we will never
know about the girl lets our imagination soar. The painting is also called Girl in a Turban. Vermeer used expensive ultramarine blue pigment,
which is exacted from lapis lazuli stones. In fact, this particular color is
referred to as “Vermeer Blue” as it is very unique to his paintings. You cannot
miss out on this mysterious girl and the pure blue brushstrokes.

Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis
Another of Vermeer’s works, Diana and Her Companions will be
exhibited as well as 50 Flemish paintings from 17th century. In
addition to Vermeer, paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Frans Hals and Jan
Brueghel the Elder will be on display.
