Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis exhibition starts Sept 29 in Kobe!

The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis Special exhibition started on Saturday, September 29 in Kobe City Museum.

Have you heard of the museum Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis? Located in The Hague, Holland, this museum is known as a storehouse of art masterpieces including Dutch paintings. “What masterpieces?” I hear you ask. Here’s the one everyone recognizes!

Johannes Vermeer, Girl with a Pearl Earring (c.1665)
Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis

Girl with a Pearl Earring is undoubtedly the most popular painting by Vermeer. This amazing piece of work is being exhibited in Kobe! The painting itself attracts people from around the world and makes them wonder “Who is this girl?”

Even though there are very few records regarding the painting and no clues as to its subject, the fact we will never know about the girl lets our imagination soar. The painting is also called Girl in a Turban. Vermeer used expensive ultramarine blue pigment, which is exacted from lapis lazuli stones. In fact, this particular color is referred to as “Vermeer Blue” as it is very unique to his paintings. You cannot miss out on this mysterious girl and the pure blue brushstrokes.

Peter Paul Rubens,Modello’  for the Assumption of the Virgin  (c.1622-1625)
Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis

Another of Vermeer’s works, Diana and Her Companions will be exhibited as well as 50 Flemish paintings from 17th century. In addition to Vermeer, paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Frans Hals and Jan Brueghel the Elder will be on display.
This is a fantastic opportunity to witness a world-class art collection. Don’t miss it!
